Xavi Pascual is Zenit head coach for one more year!
Basketball club Zenit and coach Xavier Pascual will continue their collaboration at least until the end of the 2023/24 season. If we consider the incomplete 2019/20 season when the coach just arrived in Saint Petersburg, the upcoming season will be his fifth at the helm of our team.
Pascual is the most successful coach in the history of our team. Under his guidance, Zenit won the VTB United League for the first time, along with the Russian championship, in June 2022. In the 2020/21 season, the team reached the playoffs of the Euroleague for the first time, and last year we became the winners of the VTB United League Supercup. In terms of medals, we have won two Kondrashin and Belov Cups (2021, 2022), silver in the Russian Cup 2022/23, and bronze in the VTB United League with an early first-place finish in the regular season of 2020/21.
Xavi will be joined by his entire coaching staff: Spanish assistant coach Iñigo Zorzano and Greek Adamantios Panagiotopoulos, Russian coach Maxim Uchaykin, and Turkish scout Kuzey Kilic, all of whom worked with him last season. Slovenian Jure Drakslar will be the strength and conditioning coach, and Russian specialist Evgeny Rozhenkov will continue as the head team doctor.
